About
The McLaughlin Doty Foundation is a private, family foundation whose primary mission is to provide scholarships to students demonstrating a financial need in Kerr County, Texas and the surrounding areas. We also support non-profit, charitable organizations that strive to improve educational, artistic, community, and health opportunities for adults and children in Central Texas. To a lesser extent, the Foundation supports select projects of national and international significance that promote positive change in people's lives and build and enhance the communities in which they live.
Scholarships
Since 2011, the McLaughlin Doty Foundation scholarship has supported students requiring financial assistance to reach their academic goals. We believe in the transformative power of education and that every student deserves access to quality learning opportunities, regardless of their background or circumstances.
Eligibility
Applicants must be seniors graduating from Tivy High School, Ingram Tom Moore High School, Center Point High School, Harper High School, Hill Country High School, or Our Lady of the Hills High School. We also welcome applications from Kerr County residents who have completed an accredited home school curriculum.
Application
The scholarship process is a one-time application that covers a maximum of four years of a student's undergraduate studies. Submissions typically begin in December and remain open until the March deadline. In addition to the application, students are required to submit two letters of recommendation. Award
Recipients can receive up to $7,500 annually, with a maximum of four years of support (up to $30,000 total). Students graduating with an associate’s degree are generally eligible for up to two years of support, with a maximum total award of $15,000. If selected, students will be required to maintain a 3.0 gpa and part-time employment for the duration of their scholarship.
Grants
The Foundation also makes grants to qualified, nonprofit organizations that are recognized as a public charity under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and have funding needs that fall within the parameters of our mission statement. There is no set grant cycle or application deadline. Grant applications are processed year-round on a first-come, first-served basis until funding for the fiscal year is exhausted.
